Why A Book Club Is Better Than A Night Club.

10/28/2019

Comments

Let me start by saying that occasionally I do enjoy going to the club. It's fun, but it still does  not compare to the benefits of a book club. It's come to my attention that in our culture reading is associated with being nerdy and going to parties is associated with being cool. That basically saying its cooler to be dumb than smart and I think that way of thinking is silly and outdated. Today I'm going to be sharing with you guys 5 reason why I think book clubs are better than night clubs.
We have a book club meeting coming up Saturday 11/16/19 5pm-7pm. Free food and drinks. If you want to attend reserve your spot by clicking the button below. Hope to see you there!
Reserve My Spot for The Social Book Club Meeting!
1. Book Clubs Are Cozy.
First of all our book club takes place right in my living room. Sitting on a couch in a warm living room it way better than sitting at the bar in a night club.

2. Book Clubs Are Safer.
My book club is comprised of my friends and family. Everyone who attends my book club goes through a screening process. The last thing I want is to invite a weirdo to my home or around my friends and family. At the club you don't know who you might meet, so you always have to be careful.
3. Free Food and Drinks.
I try to make our book club an enjoyable experience for everyone so I provide food and drinks including wine if you are 21+. Also remember what I said about it being safer? Well that goes for drinking too. You don't have to worry about what you would have to worry about drinking at the club, because you are among friends.

4. Networking
Most people read for one of two reasons: to learn or to be entertained. If you are and entrepreneur and you have a product that offers some form of entertainment or you just want to build your customer base, book club are an excellent place to connect with people.
 5. You Learn
Its better to be smart than dumb. Anyone who disagrees is a fool. In a book club even if you don't read the book, if you listen and engage in conversation with people, you will learn something. And we read a large variety of books so the knowledge base is very broad. At a night club, most people are there to get f*cked up, to f*ck, to drink, nobody is really there to learn, very few people are there to make money, and that right there is the biggest reason why I think night clubs are a waste of time.

The best way you can go about spreading positivity in the streets is to lead by example. However you think people should be is how you should be. Children are our biggest observers so if you can, at the very least, inspire a child to do the right thing, god will reward you a hundred time over, because now you're doing his work. It a lot of negativity in these streets and I think it could most of it could be solve by reading. There is a book for everything. If money is your problem read about business. If you are heartbroken or lonely read about love. If you don't know the history of your people (I'm looking at you black people) read about black history and our leaders! There is a book for everything! I'm not just saying that either, at the very least I'm reading 4 books, that is one book per season (3 months). It is a lot of knowledge out here and I want it all.

If you support what I do and want to help me spread positivity in the streets, buy a book mark.
Each book mark is unique, then have my contact info on them, and they are only $4.  At the end of the day I am out here for you guys, so buy a book mark, click the link below. Hope to see you all at out next book club meeting, until then, peace!

What is up guys! Halloween is right around the corner, so in honor of the scariest time of year I am going to be sharing with you the book that I deem the scariest. I would not recommend reading this book in the dark or without your holy book of choice nearby, that's how frightening it is. If you want to read it yourself click the book cover to be taken to its Amazon page. Don't forget to leave a like or comment. I appreciate all the love and support. After the blog post please be sure to take my Reading/Interests Survey and Let me know which book you think is the scariest.

This book is called, Grimorium Verum.  This is Latin for, true grimoire. A "grimoire" is a book of spells. This is basically a book full of demons and how to get in contact with them. It" gives "physical" (quotations because it describes their appearances, but they are not physical beings) descriptions of each demon and tells you what they will do for you in exchange for your energy. In my opinion everything they offer is superficial: money, sex, status; and the cost, not worth it; but some of you might be interested. What sets this book apart from other grimoires is that it is very easy to understand. The author, Joseph Peterson, has translated many religious and esoteric texts. Click the book cover for more info on this book and harness the power of the supernatural.
What do you guys think? Would you read this book? Are there any scarier books? Be sure to take my Reading/Interests Survey to let me know what you enjoy reading. Hope to see all of you at our next book club meeting, until net time, peace!

Changed Man Prod. by Othello

9/29/2019

Comments

Othello is the one who called this joint Changed Man. I just went along with what he already put out there. I started thinking about all the ways I've been changing. The biggest change I've undergone is I'm a whole lot happier! I was in a very negative place until I heard a guy say, "There's no change without a change in behavior.' Now whenever I feel any type of negativity the first thing I do is look for changes I can make in my routine. I'll start working out, eating healthier, being more open and talking to people; I just try to make as many positive changes as I can. In this case, I turned to music. I start of by saying "feeling good feeling better" cuz that how I've been feeling. One more suggestion I have for dealing with negativity is try to live in the present. A lot of times we let yesterdays or even last year problem burden us today, why!? Focus on the blessing you have in front of you and live your best life. Let me know if you guys like the song and please follow me on all my social media at the bottom of this page.

How to get anything you want.

What is up guys The Autobiography of Malcolm X As Told By Alex Haley is one of my all-time favorite books. In it we get an inside look on Malcolm X's life and along the journey he reveals wisdom that is applicable to all aspects of life. Seriously, he talks about the streets, dating, business and much more. In this blog post I share two Malcolm X quotes that have stuck with me through the years and reveal Malcolm X's philosophy on getting what you want. I also give further explanation on the meaning behind the quotes for those of you who may have a hard time understanding. If you haven't read The Autobiography of Malcolm X I highly suggest you do. Click the book cover below to get your copy. Its only $5, but really the information is priceless. Hope to see all of you at our next book club meeting, until then, bye!

P.S. after the blog post please be sure to take my Reading/Interest Survey to let me know what you like to read!

"In order to get anything you have to look as though you already have it." -Malcolm X
EXPLANATION: We have all heard something similar to this quote before. In this quote Malcolm X is basically saying if you want people to take you seriously you have to look the part. The first thing people notice about you is your appearance and in many instances that is all they judge you by. Knowing this, moving forward do your best to dress appropriate for the task at hand. Don't wear your street clothes to work and don't wear your work clothes in the streets.
"I learned early that crying out in protest could accomplish things... I learned that if you want something you better make some noise." -Malcolm X
EXPLANATION: Whenever Malcolm X's mother so much as threatened to put her hands on him, he would cry out and draw the attention of strangers. In many instances this was enough to keep her from putting her hands on him. Also when he and his brother were kids they would ask their mother for snacks and treats and she would tell them no. The thing that set Malcolm apart from his brother is that when his brother stopped asking, Malcolm kept asking. As a result just to get him to be quiet she would give him what he asked for. Pretty much, this quote is saying that if you want something, then use that beautiful voice god gave you and ask for what you want. Whether its more or less of something the first and easiest step you can take toward getting what you want is asking for it.

What's on Jay Z's Bookshelf?

9/26/2019

Comments

The rap game is a place full of odd characters. For most people that last thing that comes to mind when you think of rappers are books. Don't let slang and profanity fool you! Behind the scenes, even rappers know the importance and power of reading. In 2009 Jay Z did an interview with Oprah where he revealed a few of his favorite books. so today I'm going to be sharing with you the highlight of that interview and a few books Jay Z recommends you read.
P.S. In order to make this blog post more easily digestible I am making it a two parter.

Reading/Interest Survey
1. Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav.
Picture
I've actually read this book before. I saw it on my moms book shelves. In regard to this book Jay Z said, "There are two books that I absolutely live my life by. This is one of them. Growing up, I was always curious about religion. This book made the most sense to me; it's about the way you live your life. I believe in karma and doing the right thing even if it may not advance you as far as you want. If every single person felt the same way about karma and intention, then the world gets fixed tomorrow. But temptation gets in the way. Zukav is right: It may take lifetimes to learn. "
2. Purple Cow by Seth Godin.
Picture
I have never read this book before but I know its a business book. I really want to read this book because I kinda know where they are going with the purple cow analogy. Making you product a purple cow mean making sure it stands out from the crown. Maybe I will pick it up someday. In regard to this book Jay z said “This is straight marketing advice: Your product has to be a purple cow—it has to be distinct to have any success. You have to be clear on your product: What are you? What are you putting out there? For years I never did an ad for [my company] Rocawear, because I cared more about the quality than the face in front. I hadn't read this book back then, but when someone puts words to feelings you have, it's like, "Wow, that's exactly what it is."
3. Nigger by Dick Gregory.
Picture
I’ve never read this book before but I have seen it. I am also considering picking up this book after hearing what Jay Z had to say about it: "I don't know who turned me on to this autobiography, but his sense of humor and the hardships he went through stayed with me—especially the scene where he started running home from school. It led to his joining the track team, which led to a scholarship to college. Running opened up a whole world for him."
What do you guys think of Jay Z's Bookshelf? Do you like his selection? Have you read any of these books? Are you considering picking any of them up? Let me know in the comments and be on the look out for part 2 where I discuss three more book Jay Z recommends you read! Also make sure you check out Oprah's interview with him!
